What is a disciple?

  • 3101 in Strong’s numbering system – it means more in the NT than a mere pupil or learner. It is an adherent (Webster – a follower of a leader, a believer in or advocate [advocate: Webster-one that defends or maintains a cause or proposal] of a particular thing, idea, or church) who accepts the instruction given to him and makes it his rule of conduct.

 

Seven Priorities of Life:

1.     Praise/thanksgiving – Psalm 50:14, 23; Psalm 95:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

2.     Worship – Psalm 95:6-7; Psalm 29:1-2; Job 1:13-22

3.     Prayer – 1 Timothy 2:1-8

4.     Reading and studying the word of God – Romans 12:1-2

5.     Memorization/Meditation – Psalm 19:14; Psalm 77:12; Psalm 119:15; Joshua 1:8

6.     Confession – Romans 10:9-10 (to agree, admit, acknowledge, & promise)

7.     Sharing – Hebrews 10:24-25; Hebrews 3:13; 1 Corinthians 12:18, 20, & 25 
 

Harbor Light (or Guidelines for Making Important Decisions):

1.     Agree with scripture

2.     Holy Spirit witness with your spirit

3.     Share with godly counsel

4.     Intimate relationship with Christ (having a constant personal prayer life)

5.     Submitted to those in authority over you

6.     Humble

7.     Have a prayer partner

Christmas Party! Sunday morning life group is having a Christmas Dinner party TONIGHT at IHOP (International House of Pancakes) on Fort Avenue at 6:00PM. Please bring a wrapped $1.00 gift (books, CD’s, puzzle, toys, magnifier, flashlight, gloves, candy, etc.). Please bring your children, teens, and grandchildren - everyone is welcome!
